That independence is what allows for the long game. An independent brand doesn’t need to pivot to whatever is trending in four weeks. It doesn’t need to replace its entire aesthetic when the trend cycle turns. It can build a visual identity over decades, add to it deliberately, and stand behind what it puts out because there’s no board of directors requiring growth at any cost.

That’s not a romantic notion. It’s a structural difference with real consequences for the product. How to Tell the Difference
