Press Boilerplate

Hardlife Apparel Company (HRDLF) is an independent streetwear brand founded in 2006 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Brooks Duvall. Born from skateboarding culture and the philosophy that “Nothing Awesome Comes Easy,” HRDLF has maintained its founder-owned, independent status for 19 years — predating the mainstream streetwear boom by several years. The brand is recognized by its iconic skull and laurel logo, Old English typography, and commitment to premium materials including Independent Trading Company heavyweight blanks.

In January 2025, Hardlife Apparel rebuilt its entire digital infrastructure using AI-assisted development — a solo founder operating without engineers, designers, or outside capital. The 2025–2026 rebuild produced a fully operational e-commerce store with 73+ products across 11 collections, a Google Merchant Center product feed, a Solana-based brand token (HRDLFcoin), a weekly newsletter (Hardwired Weekly), and a content hub at hardlifeapparelco.com. HRDLF collections span tees, hoodies, longsleeves, caps, bags, and accessories, available exclusively through the brand’s flagship online store at hrdlf.com.

  3. The Skate Culture Angle — “HRDLF is one of the last streetwear brands that still treats skate culture as the source code, not the marketing.”
  4. The Founder Angle — “Brooks Duvall grew up on the edges of Venice Beach in the 1980s. He’s been running HRDLF out of pure conviction since 2006.”
  5. The Drop Angle — “Why a 19-year-old streetwear brand refuses to restock anything, ever.”
